Adoption Application Now Open!
We are now accepting new adoption applications! Before you complete the application form, please review the Adoption Process article on the Adoption main page so you understand how our application/approval/adoption process works. Also, check to be sure you are in our service area in Southeastern Virginia.
Please be aware that we still require home evaluation visits. Because of the pandemic, we have adopted standard safety protocols for in-person visits, including screening questions, social distancing, mask wearing, and doing as much as possible outside. Your safety and well-being, as well as that of our volunteers, is very important to us!
While we feel strongly that in-person home evaluation visits give us the best picture about a family’s suitability for a dog, we are also willing to consider virtual home visits. Please note in the comments on the application form if you are willing to have an in-person home evaluation visit or if you would prefer a virtual visit.

Fireworks, thunder, and other scary noises
I am sure many of you are looking forward to celebrating the upcoming holiday, even though it may be different than in other years. But for all the opportunities that holidays provide, whatever the circumstances, for many dog owners, the 4th of July is one to be feared. Of all the challenges we face as dog parents, the anxiety, fear, and sometimes outright panic and hysteria that can appear in our dogs as a result of loud noises and storms has got to be one of the most difficult. Our dogs can truly suffer at times like this, and we suffer along with them. Find info about how to deal with this challenge in the latest blog post.

The JOY of fostering a Golden Retriever
SEVA GRREAT's foster parents want to share with you the JOY of providing a temporary home to a Golden in need. Read some quotes from some of our very special foster parents.
China Goldens
SEVA GRREAT believes that every Golden deserves a chance, no matter their place of birth. To date we have rescued over 60 homeless Goldens from Turkey. Because those efforts have been so rewarding, we are expanding our efforts to help Goldens in China as well. Without our help, these dogs would die. Our first Golden arrivals from China will be coming to Virginia shortly. These dogs embody everything that is special about our breed.
A Story of Turkey Dogs
For hundreds of years, homeless dogs have been a part of the Turkish environment. Estimates for the number of homeless dogs roaming the streets and in the shelters of Istanbul vary greatly from 70,000 to 150,000.
Once considered a status symbol by the wealthy in Turkey, Golden Retrievers have become more common and less valued. As a result, hundreds end up being released onto the streets dodging traffic and begging for scraps.
